Alejandro Buchner

artist bio

Alejandro Buchner is contemporary, classical sculptor who has completed numerous commissions in Hollywood for collectors and for “the industry.” He is a very well kept “secret.” Licensed to thrill.

Alejandro uses the human form as the foundation for his work and instruction. He professes:

“The most natural way to communicate beauty is through exploration and discipline.”

For those interested, he is able to provide a deep and true understanding of human anatomy.

Born in Buenos Aires. Raised por las calles (on the streets) and in artistic and ceramics studios, Alejandro has pursued art as a passion and through intense education on three continents: South America, Europe and for the past 9 years, the United States. Currently, he practices and teaches art through two primary forms.

Sculpture & drawing.

He teaches in English, French and Spanish (and sometimes Italian). His atelier (in Burbank) is a rich cacophony of music and dialogue where students are free to explore, fail, converse and achieve new levels.

Since his youth, Alejandro believed he could express himself best through art. He draws on years and years of training, experience and passion.

After surviving and thriving through a colorful youth in Argentina, He “arrived” in Paris. He first earned credibility and skill as a storyboard artist in advertising. Eventually he cajoled his way into becoming a set designer for Yves St. Laurent where he honed his passion for 3-dimensional expression. For 3+ years, he conceived, drafted, computer-modeled and built dozens and dozens of physical environments for Vogue, GQ and other international fashion magazine shoots. Throughout, he continued studying the art of the human form, focusing on anatomy.

Just as he was launching his own studio, he found the love of his life, Katie (en Paris, mais bein sur!) Since then, he made his way through America to Los Angeles where he now is the proud father of two beautiful boys, Juaquin and Leo.

Alejandro’s lifelong art practice and education includes degrees and certificates from:

  • The Florence Academy of Art, Florence

  • Concept Design Academy, Pasadena

  • 3 Kicks Studio, Pasadena

  • Gnomon School Hollywood, Los Angeles

  • Anatomy Tools, Las Vegas

  • La Universidad de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires

He continues to study and practice every chance he gets.

Alejandro currently teaches Fundamentals of Figure Drawing at Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna Beach, CA. He continues to produce artwork and teach small group sculpture classes in Burbank at the Alejandro Buchner Sculpture Studio.
